Welcome to SPICE!

On 12 December 2007, SPICE won the ACT Early Intervention Awards 2007 - Excellence in Service Provision” award.  SPICE received a $5,000 incentive award which was contributed by the ACT Government.  The awards – an initiative of SupportLink and ACT Policing and supported by the Domestic Violence Crisis Services and Parentline – highlight the importance of early intervention and promote best practice in the coordination and delivery of support services for families and children in the ACT.

What is SPICE?

SPICE is a highly motivating and successful work experience and home tutoring program for young people aged 12 – 15 and at risk of not completing their Year 10 Certificates. SPICE is a project of Volunteering ACT .

The SPICE program links students having difficulty connecting with their schools with their choice of work experience. The combined support of a work placement, a business mentor and a volunteer home tutor reinforces the need for students to complete Year 10. This enables students to access individual career pathways and to make positive choices for their future.

If you would like to donate money to sustain the program in the ACT or develop the program in another state, please press on the Link.

To become a volunteer home tutor assisting a young person with their literacy and numeracy skills, please complete and submit an application form.

To become a business partner, offering work experience to students, please contact us using the methods below.

If you would like to establish SPICE in your corner of Australia, please Contact Us.
